Gender & Sexuality in World History aims to enhance student engagement and primary source literacy. Led by a collaborative team of educators and librarians at Wake Forest University, this initiative reimagines the traditional approach to historical research and pedagogy. At its core, the project fosters an environment where students are not just consumers of historical knowledge but active participants and creators. By digging into archival collections and engaging with primary sources, students gain firsthand experience in historical scholarship, discovering the joy and complexity of researching and interpreting the past. This hands-on approach is coupled with open pedagogy principles, allowing students to produce a public, open-access primary source reader that reflects their collective research and insights on gender and sexuality in world history.
